The Machine Learning and Computational Biology Lab (MLCB) is located in Basel, Switzerland, and is part of the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering which is one of the ETH Zurich’s youngest departments.
The interdisciplinary research group works across the areas of Big Data Analysis and Biomedicine, while exploring new methods and applications in the fields of Machine Learning and Bioinformatics. The main focus of the group includes developing data mining algorithms to detect patterns and statistical dependencies, with applications of the novel techniques on data from biology and medicine.
Project contribution
The MLCB group contributed its expertise in the field of Machine Learning. In particular, ETH was involved in the classification task, developing a machine learning based algorithm in order to guide the clinical decision.
